Happy New Year From First Grade

READING: Hopefully you have been able to spend good family time together reading holiday cards, letters from friends and family, and fun holiday books! Keep working on strategies of 1. sound out, 2. use pictures 3. guess 4. read on!

WRITING: Who? What? Where? When? Why? These are all keys for our writing right now. Work together to create fun family stories using these components. Have the adults draw pictures too!

Math: There are MANY ways to get to the same result in math. Work on combining lots of numbers together and have them draw, write, or tell you how they got the answer they got. Get ready for amazing proof!

EXTRA! EXTRA!:

Look for a fun and frosty unit on Snowmen that teaches us math, art, writing, and social studies too!!!

Hello! Fall is finally here and school is underway! Here are some of the higlights of our year so far:
1. We can read nearly uninterrupted for 25 minutes, SILENTLY, as a whole group! Phew! That's tough stuff!
2. Nearly all of us can write a complete sentence!
3. We all can stand silently in line while we wait for our classmates to wash their hands.
4. We can all now stay awake until the end of the day...including Mrs. Moore!
YEAH TEAM!

Here is what is upcoming:
1. MO's clam chowder fundraiser to raise funds for Hobby Hour! Sale ends Nov. 9th.
2. First Friday, Nov. 2nd, all of elementary, 9-10 a.m.
3. Nov. 15th, K/1 Grandparent Thanksgiving Celebration. 1pm
